Job summary

Qualifications

• Good general education at GCSE level or above.
• Completion of the Clinical Coding Standards Course and relevant assessments, or willingness to complete them within the first 3 months.

Responsibilities

• Complete the online Clinical Coding Standards Course; central to the role.
• Extract relevant clinical information from electronic patient records.
• Assign ICD10 and OPCS codes following National Coding Guidelines and local policies.
• Maintain and build coding skills through internal specialist training.
• Organise own work to meet individual targets and objectives.
• Liaise with Trust staff to secure accurate data.
• Work with department colleagues to meet targets and objectives.
• Keep coding accuracy and integrity at the highest level.
• Take part in the internal coding audit programme and act on its recommendations.
