Job summary

Blue Zoo Animation Studio in the UK seeks a Lead Blender Animator to mentor a team, manage shot assignments, and deliver characterful performances that align with directors’ briefs. The role requires driving quality from blocking through final animation, while coordinating timing with production and executives.

You’ll lead by example, adapt to notes, and help grow your team’s capabilities, including mentoring sessions and pipeline collaboration for consistent project outcomes.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in Blender at a high level with character animation.
• Strong knowledge of body mechanics, posing and performance.
• Experience with face/body capture and rigging concepts.
• Ability to accept feedback and adapt direction effectively.
• Excellent communication and leadership of a small team.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of animators and coordinate with Directors and Production Manager.
• Attend briefs, assign shots, and manage live capture integration in Blender.
• Record and mix takes from devices, adjusting performances as needed.
• Ensure deadlines are met and provide daily team check-ins.
• Mentor juniors, model best practices, and facilitate pipeline communication.
• Collaborate with Supervisors and Leads to troubleshoot issues.
