Job summary

Blue Zoo Animation Studio in London is seeking a Blender-focused Character Animator to craft layout and animation for television commercials and short-form content. You will set up camera layouts, discuss ideas with Creative Lead/Director, and contribute creatively while expanding the studio’s storytelling quality.

The role requires advanced Blender knowledge, a keen eye for body mechanics, and proven CG animation production experience. Hybrid/remote options are available.

Qualifications

• Strong Blender knowledge and experience.
• Advanced understanding of body mechanics, posing, and performance.
• Experience in CG animation production for television, film, games or VFX.
• Strong understanding of cinematography and camera storytelling.
• Ability to receive and act on feedback and respond to direction.
• Excellent time management and prioritising skills.
• Ability and drive to share knowledge with others.
• Team player and collaborator with good communication.

Responsibilities

• Work independently or with fellow animators, maintaining communication with your Creative Lead, Director, and the broader Short Form and Commercials team.
• Manage time effectively to meet short deadlines, flag delays early with your producer.
• Ensure animation clearly conveys story, ideas, and acting choices from blocking to polish.
• Take direction constructively and implement feedback with a positive mindset.
• Collaborate across departments to address production challenges and move projects forward.
• Support the team during high-demand periods or when covering for absent colleagues.
• Mentor and guide less experienced team members to grow overall capability.
• Strive for the highest quality output within given timeframes.
