Job summary

Suffolk County Council is seeking a Junior Content Designer to join the Content Design team within Customer Experience and Digital. You will help ensure our websites remain accessible, accurate and user-focused for thousands of residents each month.

The role is 22 hours per week, with hybrid or remote working options and occasional attendance at Endeavour House in Ipswich. You’ll collaborate with Content Designers and service teams to improve online content and accessibility.

Qualifications

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to high quality work.
• Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks.
• Collaborative approach and enthusiasm for teamwork.
• Experience editing, reviewing or managing digital content.
• Confidence working with internal stakeholders and explaining content changes.
• Good IT skills including Microsoft Office and Teams.
• Understanding accessibility principles and inclusive content.
• Experience with content management systems (CMS) or willingness to learn.
• Customer-focused mindset to improve online experiences.

Responsibilities

• Monitoring and fixing broken links, formatting issues and content inconsistencies.
• Reviewing customer feedback and working with service teams to improve content.
• Supporting accessibility compliance and assistive technology users.
• Reviewing new content to ensure standards and accessibility.
• Supporting Content Designers with projects and website improvements.
• Publishing and maintaining content in the CMS.
• Triaging content-related requests from colleagues.
• Guiding trained editors and maintaining content governance.
• Supporting analytics reporting and content performance monitoring.
• Contributing to user-focused improvements through feedback and evaluations.
