Job summary

Intelance seeks a freelance Lead Enterprise Architect to run a fixed-scope EA review for a large UK professional services firm, with potential to stay on as interim architect if follow-on work is secured.

The review runs over four to six weeks from November 2026, requiring about 18 days, with an optional follow-on of two days a week for eight weeks and a 90-day check. Work is mainly remote within the UK, with some client-site days in England.

Qualifications

• Experience as lead/ head of enterprise architecture in a UK law firm or large professional services partnership (~1,000+ people).
• Has set up an architecture function or design authority from scratch.
• Writes costed options papers and presents to COO/board.

Responsibilities

• Lead the review from first meeting to final presentation, as the client’s day-to-day contact.
• Oversee records and existing documentation to map the technology estate.
• Run 8–10 interviews with senior IT heads to gather inputs.
• Produce a clear estate map and trace key decisions to owners.
• Present findings and options to the Chief Operating Officer with Intelance’s engagement partner.
• If follow-on occurs, act as interim architect two days/week and establish a technology decision forum.
