Job summary

Victim Support is seeking an Independent Domestic & Sexual Violence Advisor (IDSVA) to work from home across Cumbria, with regular travel. You will manage high-risk domestic abuse cases, provide tailored advocacy and collaborate with MARAC and partners to improve victim safety.

The role requires resilience, strong customer service, and experience in advocacy. DBS Enhanced and police vetting are required; 37.5 hours weekly, Monday–Friday 9am–5pm.

Qualifications

  • Experience of working in support and advocacy with victims of domestic abuse is advantageous.
  • Ability to prioritise work and manage competing demands/needs and promote organisation values.
  • Ideally hold a Safe Lives IDVA accreditation or work towards the qualification, or have relevant experience in domestic abuse service work.

Responsibilities

  • Providing a high quality support and advocacy service to victims of domestic abuse.
  • Managing a caseload; identifying and assessing risks and needs, providing tailored crisis intervention, safety planning and emotional/practical support.
  • Working with other agencies and advocating on behalf of service users to access services and stay safe.
  • Working within a multi-agency framework with MARAC and local partnerships for a coordinated response to domestic abuse.
  • Promoting the service and raising awareness through delivering training.
