Canal & River Trust seeks a Hydrologist to provide operational advice and support strategic water resource and flood risk projects. You will apply technical knowledge to manage water resources around our network, including site investigations of canals, rivers, reservoirs and other infrastructure.

You will engage in modelling, data analysis and stakeholder collaboration while visiting sites across the network and coordinating with Environment Agency/Natural Resources Wales where needed.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate qualification in a relevant subject such as water resources management or hydrology.
• Pursuit of chartered membership (e.g., CIWEM) is encouraged.
• Ability to handle and present hydrometric and spatial data clearly.
• Solid understanding of hydrological processes and modelling approaches.
• Awareness of regulatory frameworks affecting water management.

Responsabilités

• Provide specialist advice on water resource management to operational and central teams.
• Develop and implement approaches to quantify impacts of future pressures like climate change.
• Contribute to the Water Resources Strategy to 2050.
• Lead water management projects with clear timescales and budgets, including fieldwork.
• Deliver high-quality hydrological analysis and modelling for external partners.
