Job summary

Powersystems UK Ltd is seeking a Substation Commissioning Engineer for Renewable Energy projects across the UK. This remote role involves extensive travel and on-site testing of outdoor substations, including energisation activities and protection testing.

You will work with SCADA, IEC 61850, Omicron and Test Universe tools to ensure safe commissioning, accurate documentation and strong client collaboration across DNOs and subcontractors.

Qualifications

• Strong hands-on experience in power sector testing and commissioning, including primary/secondary injection.
• Experience with switchgear and protection relays.
• Cable testing experience.
• Ability to deliver commissioning paperwork with accuracy.
• Excellent communication with clients and colleagues.
• Full UK Driving License & Right to Work in the UK.

Responsibilities

• Deliver electrical testing and commissioning safely, following SHEQ procedures.
• Commission and test outdoor substation equipment on site, including energisation activities.
• Perform protection, control, and interface testing including SCADA, Modbus and IEC 61850 using Omicron and Test Universe.
• Provide expert technical support during commissioning with project engineers, design teams, clients, DNOs and subcontractors.
• Champion Powersystems’ Health, Safety, and wellbeing, professionalism and continuous improvement.
