Job summary

eSIM Go is seeking an Engineering Lead to own the engineering function, setting the technical vision and strategy for the full platform. You will lead a team of tech leads and engineers, shaping the roadmap with Product and Partner Ops to deliver real value for partners.

You will balance delivery with long-term health of the platform, grow the team, and drive automation, testing and documentation to ensure robust, scalable systems across desktop and mobile interfaces.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of backend experience with leadership responsibilities.
• Strong foundation in distributed systems and scalable architectures.
• Proven track record setting technical strategy for live products at scale.
• Experience building and structuring engineering functions, incl. hiring and budgeting.
• Extensive API design using RESTful principles.
• Proficiency in Golang and AWS cloud environment.
• Experience with Agile workflows and team dynamics.
• Knowledge of API security standards (OAuth 2.0, JWT, API keys).

Responsibilities

• Set the technical vision and strategy for engineering and own key architectural decisions.
• Lead engineering managers and tech leads as the team scales.
• Design robust, scalable APIs and systems for multiple interfaces.
• Manage distributed cloud systems focusing on reliability, performance and cost.
• Own hiring strategy, resources, and budget with People team alignment.
• Drive automation and identify repeatable tasks across the team.
• Champion automated and regression testing to ensure bug-free releases.
• Maintain internal and customer-facing technical documentation.
• Serve as the senior technical voice for partners and the business.
• Mentor engineers and support career development across the function.
• Collaborate with Product on roadmap and technical trade-offs.
