Job summary

Jagex is seeking a seasoned Game Engine engineer to enhance and maintain RuneTek across rendering, audio, networking and tools interoperability. You will collaborate with production and game teams to deliver production-ready engine tech and optimise performance.

Applicants should bring modern C++ game engine experience, GLSL/Python skills, and a strong track record in profiling and optimising complex systems. Flexible remote work with onsite as needed is offered.

Qualifications

• Experience in modern C++ game engine development.
• Proficient with GLSL and Python.
• Ability to profile CPU, GPU and memory across live products.

Responsibilities

• Enhance and maintain engine tech and libraries across subsystems (networking, audio, input, file system, maths).
• Research and develop new engine tech, production-ready and industry-leading.
• Deliver robust, scalable, high-performance code meeting dept standards.
• Deliver on moderate-scope projects as part of a team balancing product, production and engineering priorities.
• Proactively identify improvements and evaluate off-the-shelf vs in-house solutions.
• Develop a personal specialism over time with mentorship.
