Job summary

Extra Mile - Sierra Leone is seeking a Fundraising & Grant Writing Lead to grow its donor base and secure grants for a school supporting 185 children in Sierra Leone.

You will identify UK trusts, write compelling proposals, design a monthly giving programme, and pursue CSR opportunities to fund our work. You’ll build relationships with donors, report progress to trustees, and work remotely from the UK to sustain long‑term impact.

Qualifications

• Experience in fundraising, grant writing or development is ideal.
• Strong written communication with evidence of successful applications.
• Research skills to identify funders for international education and child welfare.
• Ability to work independently and shape the role.

Responsibilities

• Research UK trusts, foundations and grant programmes that fund international education or child welfare in Africa.
• Write grant applications that bring our work and impact to life.
• Design a recurring giving programme to grow monthly donors.
• Spot corporate partnership and CSR opportunities and draft outreach proposals.
• Track applications, deadlines and outcomes, and share wins with the team.
• Update trustees on progress and pipeline.
