Referment is building an applied AI research lab in the UK and seeks a senior AI/ML engineer to own causal inference and experimentation. The role blends research, design, coding and releases, while leading domain work to scale methods on the platform.

You’ll join the founding team and work remotely in the UK, with equity and full-time commitment. You’ll map causal drivers, design experiments, and define evaluation criteria, delivering robust estimates for strategic decisions and impacting

Formación

• Around five or more years building AI or ML systems in production.
• Causal inference in practice with real interventions on business data.
• Strong statistics: uncertainty, calibration, experiment design.
• Benchmarks and evaluation design to ensure trustworthy results.
• Excellent Python (async, typed, tested) and SQL skills.
• Experience with LangChain, LangGraph, and LlamaIndex beyond demos.
• AI-native working habits; comfortable with code reviews and merging.
• Degree from a top-tier institution with AI-native training.
• You write design docs before coding and can explain cause-effect to non-technical stakeholders.

Responsabilidades

• Own the causal layer of the platform and map drivers of client numbers.
• Estimate effects from natural experiments and validate every estimate.
• Return effects as honest ranges with lag to calibrate decisions.
• Design experiments with clients and translate forecasts into ranges.
• Own attribution methods crediting decisions for results.
• Design evaluation benchmarks, scoring rubrics and blind holdouts.
• Learn platform questions in first 90 days and ship a causal estimate on a live problem.
