Job summary

On the Beach is seeking a Principal Engineer to drive technical strategy and platform transformation. You will steer search capabilities, shape scalable architecture, and guide multi-team efforts across product, data and platform domains.

You will mentor engineers, modernise legacy systems, and ensure performance, security and continuous delivery across our hybrid working model with Manchester collaboration.

Qualifications

• Experience shaping technical direction at scale.
• Ability to design and optimise search technologies and platforms.
• Proven track record leading engineering teams and modernising legacy systems.

Responsibilities

• Define technical strategy with product leadership.
• Design and optimise search systems for scalability and relevance.
• Oversee refactoring of C# codebases and modernisation initiatives.
• Promote engineering best practices across security, performance, testing and CD.
• Provide architectural direction across multiple teams and standards.
• Mentor engineers to grow technically and as leaders.
• Collaborate with Product, Data and Platform teams to deliver complex changes.
• Lead transformation initiatives balancing technical ambition with business priorities.
