Job summary

Pearson is seeking an External Examiner for MedTech BTEC Higher National qualifications (RQF) to support England in 2026. The role is fully remote, covering national centres and standardisation activities. You will oversee sampling, reporting, and implementation of actions to uphold Pearson's national standards.

Candidates should have extensive HN teaching and assessment experience, a Level 6 qualification and sector competence, plus ongoing CPD. Strong communication and ICT skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Significant teaching experience of HN within the last 10 years.
• Significant experience delivering and assessing BTEC Higher National qualifications in the subject area.
• Holds a Level 6 qualification and a relevant sector competence qualification.
• Annual CPD participation and standardisation activity completion.
• Experience leading Internal Quality Assurance (IQA) roles and driving standards.

Responsibilities

• Undertake sampling of assessed student work within defined parameters to verify national standards.
• Provide sampling-related support and development to centres.
• Produce reports on sampling outcomes and support provided to Pearson and centres.
• Apply sanctions in consultation with team leader where standards are not met.
• Create targeted actions for centres to remediate identified issues and monitor progress.
• Assist SEE in sourcing materials for training and standardisation.
