Job summary

Church of England’s Diocese of Rochester is seeking an Estate Manager to lead the School Buildings and Estates function, overseeing capital funding programmes and strategic estates development across the DBE.

You will manage complex projects, liaise with schools, local authorities, and diocesan colleagues, travel as needed, and drive sustainability and safeguarding best practices within a dynamic education portfolio.

Qualifications

• Degree-level education or equivalent professional experience.
• Experience managing complex projects with multiple stakeholders and external contractors.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong financial and analytical skills, with the ability to identify priorities and opportunities.
• Proven leadership and project management experience.
• Willingness to travel throughout the Diocese.
• Sympathy with the aims and mission of the Church of England.

Responsibilities

• Lead the School Buildings and Estates operation on behalf of the DBE.
• Manage school capital funding programmes, including School Condition Allocation (SCA).
• Provide strategic advice to schools, academy trusts, site trustees and diocesan colleagues.
• Work with consultants, contractors and stakeholders to deliver projects on time, within budget and to high standards.
• Build relationships with Local Authorities, DfE and other dioceses.
• Support the Diocese's sustainability objectives, including liaison with the Net Zero Representative.
• Prepare reports and updates for the Board and diocesan meetings.
