Canonical is seeking an Engineering Manager for Distributed Systems Testing. Lead a team responsible for the quality engineering platform enabling deployment and validation of distributed systems across Canonical's cloud portfolio.
You will develop engineering talent, establish practices, and shape direction for testing infrastructure and automation, ensuring high-quality shipping of Canonical products.
Qualifications
- Experience leading, coaching, and mentoring software engineers.
- Professional software experience with Python or Go.
- Expertise in distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, quality engineering, or related domain.
- Strong knowledge of modern software testing processes, strategies, and automation.
- Proficient in Linux environments and code reviews.
Responsibilities
- Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing team of software and quality engineers.
- Set expectations, strengthen practices, and ensure timely delivery against goals.
- Shape technical strategy, architecture, roadmap, and standards.
- Develop automated testing infrastructure for reliability and interoperability.
- Improve CI pipelines and reporting across cloud environments.
- Drive adoption of distributed-systems testing practices across teams.
- Contribute through design reviews, debugging, and hands-on engineering.
- Collaborate with stakeholders on quality engineering and developer experience.
