Job summary

Sonovate is seeking a Data Platform Lead to own the architecture, delivery and operation of the data platform. You will lead a small, multidisciplinary team and work across Snowflake, dbt, Python, SQL and Azure to power internal and customer-facing data products and AI features.

You will drive best practices, ensure secure, scalable data delivery, and partner with Infrastructure and Engineering on integration and governance. This is a fully remote role within the UK, reporting to the CPTO.

Qualifications

• Strong, hands-on Python, SQL and dbt with a track record of designing and maintaining data pipelines.
• Deep working knowledge of Snowflake, including performance and cost optimisation.
• Experience building batch and streaming pipelines and integrating APIs and structured or semi-structured data.
• Experience with Azure, preferably Functions, Logic Apps and event services like Event Hubs or Service Bus.
• Experience taking data products from concept to production.
• Solid engineering practice: Git, CI/CD (Azure DevOps preferred), automated testing and maintainable code.
• Experience leading, coaching or line managing technical colleagues while staying hands-on.

Responsibilities

• Own the architecture, delivery and operation of the data platform, ensuring scalability, maintainability and cost control.
• Design and build batch and streaming pipelines and integrations across Snowflake, dbt, Python, SQL and Azure.
• Collaborate with Infrastructure and Application Engineering on event-driven integrations and security.
• Set engineering standards through code reviews, testing, CI/CD and documentation.
• Lead root cause analysis of pipeline issues and improve monitoring and reliability.
• Oversee data governance and quality controls in partnership with governance analysts.
• Deliver trusted data for reporting, self-service analytics and AI features with governed access.
• Evaluate new tools and AI-assisted approaches to improve data delivery.
• Line manage and coach the team, fostering knowledge sharing and career development.
