Job summary

Oliver Bernard is partnering with a leading technology consultancy on a major greenfield data platform build for a UK sustainability organisation. They seek an experienced Data Architect to own the platform design from inception through to implementation in a delivery-focused engagement.

The role centers on building a new enterprise-scale Azure data platform with a Databricks-based lakehouse, governance, and DataOps, guiding engineering teams and engaging client stakeholders throughout delivery.

Qualifications

• Strong Azure cloud and Databricks experience.
• Proven experience designing and delivering greenfield data platforms.
• Solid understanding of data governance, data modelling and modern DataOps.
• Confidence leading client discussions and guiding engineering teams through implementation.
• Experience with medallion or lakehouse architecture is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Own the end-to-end architecture of a new Azure data platform.
• Design a scalable Databricks-based lakehouse architecture.
• Define data modelling, governance frameworks and architectural standards.
• Work closely with data engineers, technical leads and senior client stakeholders.
• Lead design reviews, whiteboarding sessions and key technical decisions throughout delivery.
