Job summary

Smart Working is seeking a Data Engineer to bring the organization’s data function in-house and own the data warehouse from a third party. The role is ~90% data engineering and ~10% reporting support, with occasional wider IT tasks, and no UI development.

You will collaborate with the Data Analyst and data owners across operations and finance, translating business questions into reliable data solutions and communicating findings to CEO and directors.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of data engineering experience for the global Senior route.
• Advanced SQL skills including joins, CTEs, window functions, aggregations, and debugging complex queries.
• 3+ years of production BigQuery experience.
• 3+ years of production dbt experience (staging, logic models, marts, tests).
• 1+ year of Git/GitHub experience with clear commits and branching.
• 1+ year of data warehouse concepts including ELT and dimensional modelling.
• Experience communicating with non-technical stakeholders including CEO/directors.

Responsibilities

• Take over the existing data warehouse from the third party and run it in-house.
• Maintain and improve pipelines moving ERP data into the data warehouse.
• Write, maintain, and extend data models across staging, logic, marts and reporting tables.
• Read and understand the existing codebase before building new models.
• Implement and monitor data quality tests; deploy only when tests pass.
• Use version control with disciplined commits and clear messages.
