Job summary

Smart Working is seeking a Data Engineer to bring the data function in-house, taking ownership of an existing data warehouse from a third‑party provider during handover. The role is approximately 90% data engineering and 10% reporting support, with no UI development.

You will work with the Data Analyst and data owners across the business, including operations and finance, to translate business questions into reliable data solutions and communicate findings to non‑technical stakeholders,

Qualifications

• 5+ years of data engineering experience for the global Senior route.
• 3+ years of production Google BigQuery experience required.
• 3+ years of production dbt experience with staging layers, business logic models, marts and tests.
• 1+ year of Git/GitHub experience with regular commits and branching.
• Experience ingesting ERP data into BigQuery via connectors (Fivetran, Airbyte, Stitch, ADF or similar).
• Ability to explain data findings to CEO and director-level stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Take over and run the existing data warehouse in-house after handover.
• Maintain and improve ERP data pipelines into the warehouse.
• Develop and extend data models across staging, logic, marts and reports.
• Read and understand the codebase before building new models.
• Implement data quality tests and ensure safe deployment.
• Collaborate with Data Analyst and data owners across the business.
• Document core definitions and the report library.
