Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an Insurance Underwriter specializing in Commercial Lines to join its team with remote work flexibility. You will evaluate, select, and price commercial risks, analyzing operations, financials, and risk exposures to determine coverage terms.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 4 years in underwriting, strong analytical abilities, and excellent communication and negotiation skills to support brokers, agents, claims, and actuarial teams.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of underwriting experience in commercial lines.
• Strong analytical capabilities and risk assessment proficiency.
• Remote-work capability with strong communication.
• Knowledge of market dynamics in the Eastern Cape and broader South Africa.

Responsibilities

• Review and analyze applications for commercial insurance policies, assessing risks.
• Determine appropriate coverage levels, terms, conditions, and pricing for commercial risks.
• Develop and maintain relationships with brokers and agents to facilitate business flow.
• Monitor underwriting performance and ensure adherence to guidelines and strategies.
• Provide guidance to junior underwriters and support staff.
• Collaborate with claims and actuarial teams to improve risk assessment and pricing.
