Job summary

DS Smith is establishing a new Cluster Technical Specialist role to support nine packaging sites, serving as the technical bridge between customers and manufacturing operations. You will own technical relationships, guide investigations, and drive continuous improvement across sites.

You will travel extensively, work with quality, operations, design, sales and innovation teams, and help ensure product performance and customer confidence remains high.

Qualifications

• Significant manufacturing experience, preferably corrugated packaging.
• Customer-facing technical support experience is a plus.
• ISO 9001 or packaging materials knowledge a bonus.
• Experience with structured problem-solving methods (8D/Root Cause).
• Degree in Engineering, Packaging, Manufacturing or related field.

Responsibilities

• Act as first technical point of contact for customer product performance and manufacturing concerns.
• Conduct technical investigations and root cause analysis using structured methodologies.
• Visit customer sites to identify and mitigate technical risks before they become issues.
• Build trusted relationships with customer operations, engineering and quality teams.
• Deliver technical guidance and practical training to support packaging line performance.
• Support new product introductions and customer onboarding activities.
