Job summary

RS UK & Ireland is seeking an Associate Software Engineer to join our Digital Solutions team, where you'll design, develop and support AWS-based APIs powering our B2B EDI solutions. This is a strong opportunity for an engineer early in their career who enjoys solving technical challenges in a collaborative environment.

You will work across the full software lifecycle, building API microservices and frontend experiences for high scale and low latency, using AWS serverless tech, Docker, Terraform,

Qualifications

• 1 year experience creating and maintaining Java based services or a relevant software development qualification.
• Experience in a dynamic language such as JavaScript or PHP.
• Strong testing approach including unit/integration tests and security considerations.
• Ability to work on UI with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
• Experience with multiple HTTP-based services and teams.
• Communicates well and contributes to team collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Develop API microservices and frontend experiences for high scale and low latency.
• Build APIs and event-driven architectures reliant on databases.
• Own the full software life cycle from design to operation.
• Utilise modern deployment practices with frequent iterative releases.
• Improve tooling and team processes and communicate effectively.
