Walsall Council is seeking an Attendance Officer to join the School Attendance Support Service. The role focuses on identifying barriers to attendance, supporting strategies to improve engagement, and working with pupils, families, and schools to ensure children access education.

Ideal candidates will have experience in education or children's services, strong organisational and communication skills, and the ability to work restoratively within a team.

Qualifications

• Experience in education, children's services, or other statutory/partner agency support.
• Ability to work restorative, solution-focused and independently within a statutory framework.

Responsabilités

• Work directly with pupils and families to identify and remove barriers affecting regular attendance.
• Develop and support strategies to improve attendance and engagement at pupil and school level.
• Undertake home visits and meetings with parents/carers; liaise with schools and partner agencies.
• Analyze attendance information and contribute to multi-agency discussions.
• Provide advice and challenge to schools to promote positive educational outcomes for vulnerable children.
