Job summary

Smart Communications is seeking an experienced engineer to bring modern AI capability to the Migrations team, helping customers move onto and between our products. The role focuses on applying current AI/LLM techniques to real migration challenges, designing production-ready tooling, and mentoring others while collaborating with Platform and Migrations teams.

This remote role includes occasional visits to Covent Garden, London, with a strong emphasis on shipping reliable features and staying

Qualifications

• Must have strong Python and Java experience.
• Deep practical understanding of AI landscape (foundation models, prompting, embeddings, evaluation).
• Experience integrating AI capabilities into production software, not just prototypes.
• Senior-level engineering experience: lead code reviews, mentor others.

Responsibilities

• Design and build AI-assisted tooling for migrations onto and between Smart Communications products.
• Apply current AI/LLM techniques where they add real value to migration analysis, transformation or validation work.
• Collaborate with Migrations and Platform teams on tooling and process.
• Create and maintain automated tests alongside all product changes.
• Mentor other engineers and support onboarding onto the team's codebase and tools.
• Keep the team informed of relevant AI developments.
• Participate in the agile process (stand-ups, planning, demos, retrospectives).
