Religious Education Teacher – Secondary School – Stockport

Location: Stockport
Start Date: September 2025
Salary: £31,650 - £49,084 per annum (MPS/UPS)
Contract Type: Full-time, maternity cover (two terms minimum)

We are working in partnership with a high-achieving secondary school in Stockport to recruit an inspirational Religious Education Teacher for the upcoming academic year. This is a maternity cover post, starting September 2025, within a respected and supportive Humanities department.

The school is known for its strong pastoral ethos and respectful, inclusive culture. Staff are collaborative, behaviour is well managed, and SLT are highly supportive of subject teams and CPD.

Role Responsibilities:

Plan and deliver thought-provoking RE lessons that encourage students to explore moral, philosophical, and cultural issues.

Teach RE across Key Stages 3 and 4, with the opportunity to contribute to PSHE or Citizenship if desired.

Prepare students for the AQA Religious Studies GCSE exam, using a mix of creative teaching strategies and rigorous assessment.

Create a safe space where pupils feel comfortable expressing their views and engaging in respectful debate.

Take part in subject planning meetings, enrichment opportunities, and whole-school events.

Maintain strong pupil progress records and contribute to reporting cycles.

Candidate Profile:

Qualified teacher status (QTS or equivalent) and a degree in Theology, Philosophy, Religious Studies, or a related field.

A reflective and inclusive teaching style that values student voice and engagement.

Strong understanding of exam content and experience planning lessons that meet specification requirements.

Confidence in managing behaviour and building positive classroom culture.

A team player with a passion for values-led education.

Open to applications from ECTs or more experienced teachers – school provides excellent mentorship and CPD.
