Job description

The role of the Relief Manager is to provide support within the designated region as and when required. To cover the stores within the Region in the absence of the Store Manager or any other staff and to support the Regional Manager. To maximise the sales and profit targets, store compliance and sustain effective relationships within the stores.

Key Responsibilities:

The key responsibilities of the Relief Manager include providing regional cover and assisting with sales activities to achieve budget targets and ensure excellent customer service. Additionally, ensuring that stores comply with company standards and procedures in:

• Operating and financial controls
• Staff relationships
• Marketing
• Health and safety
• Housekeeping and maintenance
• Monitoring local competitor activity and informing the Regional Manager
• Developing promotional relationships with local businesses within the region

Main Activities:

• Providing support and assistance as directed by the Regional Manager
• Opening and closing stores as a key holder in the absence of colleagues
• Promoting sales according to the store's business plan
• Marketing the store through leaflet drops and business visits
• Ensuring stores meet revenue budgets
• Preparing, presenting, and following up on written quotations with guidance from the Regional Manager
• Maintaining financial controls, cash handling, banking, and accounting procedures, adhering to standards such as the Black Book and 6 of the best
• Maintaining company administrative systems at all times
• Performing ad hoc tasks as requested by the Regional Manager

Ideal Candidate and Role Requirements:

We are ideally seeking a candidate based in or around Reading. The candidate will be assigned to a store depending on proximity to their home. Flexibility to travel between stores is required, and a clean driving license is mandatory. Travel expenses from the assigned store to other stores can be claimed.
