Mitie Group plc. is seeking a confident and energetic Relief Retail Security Officer to join a busy City Centre Retail shopping centre in Leeds. The role involves high-visibility patrols, assisting customers and retailers, and supporting security operations across the site.

You’ll need to be comfortable on your feet for long periods and capable of adapting to varying duties, from crowd management to incident response. A valid SIA licence is required, with support for training where needed.

Qualifikationen

• Valid SIA licence (or willingness to complete the training)
• Full 5-year checkable employment or education history for vetting
• Ability to manage the physical demands of extended patrols and long shifts
• Strong customer service mindset for a safe, welcoming experience
• CCTV licence advantageous

Aufgaben

• Provide a visible, reassuring presence on the shop floor
• Deliver outstanding customer service at all times
• Deterrence of theft, anti-social behaviour, and public order offences
• Carry out regular high-visibility patrols across the centre including car parks and external areas
• Work closely with store management teams
• Support partnerships with Police and local crime networks
• Use Body Worn CCTV to enhance safety onsite
• Assist with crowd management during busy periods and events
• Support emergency procedures including evacuations and major incidents
• Build positive relationships with retailers, contractors and other stakeholders
• Provide cover for holidays and other staffing requirements as part of the relief function

Relief Security Officer needed to work in a busy City Centre Retail shopping Centre

About the Role

We're looking for a confident, approachable and energetic Relief Retail Security Officer who enjoys being active and working in a fast-moving environment.

This isn't a role where you'll spend your entire shift in one place. Our officers work 12-hour shifts and cover a lot of ground, carrying out regular patrols and supporting security operations across the site. One moment you could be assisting a customer or retailer, the next responding to an incident, supporting with loss prevention or carrying out proactive patrols.

You’ll need to be comfortable being on your feet for extended periods and have the stamina to maintain a professional, alert and positive approach throughout your shift. Variety is a big part of the role, so we’re looking for someone adaptable who can think on their feet and comfortably deal with different people and situations.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Providing a visible, reassuring presence on the shop floor
• Delivering outstanding customer service at all times
• Deterring theft, anti-social behaviour and public order offences
• Carry out regular, high-visibility patrols throughout the shopping centre, including public areas, service corridors, car parks and external areas
• Working closely with store management teams
• Supporting partnerships with Police and local crime networks
• Using Body Worn CCTV to enhance safety for everyone onsite
• Assist with crowd management during busy trading periods, events and seasonal peaks.
• Support emergency procedures including evacuations and other major incident responses.
• Build positive working relationships with retailers, centre management, contractors and other stakeholders.
• Work flexibly across different security duties depending on operational requirements.
• Provide cover for holidays, sickness and other staffing requirements as part of the relief function.
• Opportunities may be available for the right candidate to support other sites across Leeds, providing additional hours, variety and experience across different security environments.

What You’ll Need

• A valid SIA licence (or willingness to complete the training – we may be able to support you with this)
• A full 5-year checkable employment or education history (this is essential for vetting)
• Able to manage the physical demands of the role, including extended foot patrols, prolonged periods of standing and covering significant distances across a busy shopping centre.
• A strong customer service mindset, recognising that security officers play an important role in creating a safe, welcoming and positive experience for everyone visiting the centre.
• A proactive, professional and customer-focused approach
• CCTV licence advantageous
