Job summary

Tees Esk and Wear Valleys NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Relief Porter/Housekeeper to join the Hotel Services Team on a part-time basis (20 hours per week). Responsibilities

• Work as part of a multi-professional team with flexibility for short-notice hours and night shifts.
• Based at Lanchester Road Hospital, with shifts including nights, weekends and bank holidays.

You must have the Right to Work in the UK in order to be successfully appointed to this role. Please note, this role does not meet the required eligibility criteria for sponsorship under the Skilled Worker visa and therefore the Trust is unable to offer sponsorship for this particular role.

Main duties of the job

We require friendly, positive thinking, organised and motivated individuals to work as a Relief Porter/Housekeeper (part time - 20 hours) within the Trusts Hotel Services Team.

Relief Porter/Housekeepers are responsible to provide and maintain cleaning and catering services as part of the Hotel Services team to office, patient and communal areas within the Trust. Ensuring a clean, safe and supportive environment for staff and patients working towards their recovery.

You will need to be passionate and enthusiastic about patient care putting patients at the heart of everything you do. You will be working in a multi-professional team and will need to be able to think on the spot and be empathetic. You will be passionate about our business, creating a culture of continuous improvement.

The post holder will be based at Lanchester Road Hospital and will be required to work shifts including nightshifts (covering reception), weekends and bank holidays.

You should be highly motivated, reliable, and flexible also willing to work at short notice as there may be opportunities for extra hours.

Experience in cleaning duties and use of chemicals and equipment are essential as you will be working in a demanding environment. Catering and food service experience would be beneficial along with a passion to providing high standards of customer service.

Qualifications

Experience

• Experience in use of cleaning materials and equipment
• Experience of working or volunteering in a mental health or learning disabilities environment
• Experience in portering
• Experience cleaning in a hospital environment

Knowledge

• Knowledge of Health & Safety and COSHH
• Knowledge of National Standard of Cleanliness
• Knowledge of deep-cleaning procedures
• Knowledge of Patient-Lead Assessment of the Care Environment (PLACE)
• Good understanding of confidentiality
• Knowledge of stock control
• Geographic knowledge of the site and key personnel (within agreed timescale)
