Job description

Purpose of the role

Reporting to the District Operations Manager, the Relief Plant Supervisor is responsible for the overall control of each site he/she covers.

Main duties include using computer-based systems for batching and dispatch of concrete, communicating with customers face-to-face and via phone, carrying out routine maintenance, supervising contractors and hauliers to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the site in accordance with the Health & Safety at Work Act and Environmental Legislation.

Other key responsibilities include ensuring that the concrete produced complies with our quality scheme and maintaining site housekeeping standards.

Key accountabilities

  1. To liaise with the Customer Service Centre to ensure that the production of concrete/mortar meets customer requirements, delivering optimum output, quality, and standards in accordance with the Procedures Manual, Working Instructions, and Technical Instructions.
  2. To regularly inspect, carry out, and ensure adherence to plant routine maintenance, and maintain cleanliness of the plant, area, buildings, and equipment as per instructions.
  3. To ensure waste disposal, water discharges, and dust emissions are managed according to Environmental Procedures.
  4. To ensure sufficient materials are available to meet production demands.
  5. To inspect incoming materials, carry out weekly visual stock checks, verify monthly, and ensure the plant is stocked with approved materials at all times.
  6. To ensure all employees, contractors, and visitors follow relevant safety instructions.
  7. To review work methods and plant utilization to optimize the use of plant, equipment, and materials.
  8. To operate the batching plant effectively, maintaining site presentation standards as per company guidelines.
  9. To accurately batch concrete/mortar following relevant procedures.
  10. To perform routine maintenance and inspections, recording actions taken.
  11. To report any defects, actions, or incidents that could jeopardize health & safety, environmental safety, product quality, or service.
  12. To keep the site, plant, and buildings clean, tidy, and safe at all times, and ensure security of the site and assets.
