Job summary

MHA is seeking a reliable Laundry Assistant (Relief) for Starr Hills in Lytham St Annes. You will help keep residents’ clothing, bedding and linen clean to a high standard while respecting privacy and dignity.

The role supports a safe, hygienic and comfortable home, contributing to residents’ wellbeing and making them feel at home. Training and development are provided as part of a supportive team ethos.

Qualifications

• Previous experience of laundry work is desirable.
• Good communication and listening skills.
• Ability to follow instructions and prioritise tasks effectively.
• Positive, flexible approach to work.
• Sensitivity to the needs of older people and a commitment to quality service.
• Willingness to undertake training and development.

Responsibilities

• Operate laundry equipment safely and in line with training and manufacturer guidance.
• Sort, wash, dry and iron residents’ clothing, bedding and linen, following care labels and instructions.
• Safely manage infected laundry and prevent cross-contamination in line with infection control procedures.
• Distribute clean laundry to residents’ rooms and linen cupboards, reporting unidentified items as needed.
• Carry out basic mending and identify items requiring dry cleaning.
• Maintain cleanliness and tidiness within the laundry area and ensure equipment is clean and well maintained.
• Follow COSHH, manual handling, health & safety and infection prevention requirements at all times.
• Respect residents’ privacy, dignity and choice.
• Attend training, supervision, appraisals and staff meetings as required.
