Job summary

Macklin Care Homes in Coleraine is recruiting a Laundry Assistant to support the housekeeping team. You will manage washing, drying, folding and distribution of residents' clothing and linen in a 16-hour weekly role with two shift options.

The post emphasizes care for residents' belongings and adherence to hygiene and COSHH rules. Ideal candidates are reliable, punctual, and organised, with a good eye for detail and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a laundry, housekeeping, cleaning or similar role is preferred but not essential.
• Reliable, punctual and organised.
• Takes pride in maintaining high standards of cleanliness.
• Good attention to detail and able to follow instructions.
• Able to work independently and as part of a team.
• Able to handle residents' personal belongings with care and respect.
• Basic understanding of health and safety and infection control procedures is an advantage.
• Flexible and willing to work the hours required by the Care Home.

Responsibilities

• Sort, wash, dry, fold and distribute residents' clothing and household linen.
• Ensure residents' personal clothing and belongings are handled with care and returned to the correct resident.
• Operate washing machines, tumble dryers and other laundry equipment safely and appropriately.
• Follow laundry procedures to ensure high standards of cleanliness and hygiene are maintained.
• Use laundry products and chemicals safely, following instructions and COSHH regulations.
• Ensure clean laundry is stored appropriately and delivered to the relevant areas of the Care Home.
• Identify and report any damaged, stained or missing items to the appropriate person.
• Maintain a clean, tidy and organised laundry area.
• Follow infection control and health and safety procedures at all times.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues across the housekeeping and wider Care Home team.
• Treat residents' belongings with respect, dignity and confidentiality.
