Job summary

MHA is seeking a reliable Kitchen Assistant (Relief) to join the catering team at Greenways in Bognor Regis. You will support the Cook with food preparation, serving meals, washing up, and maintaining a clean, safe kitchen in line with Food Safety standards.

We welcome applicants who are within approximately 15 miles of the service; full training will be provided. The role offers flexible hours and opportunities to contribute to residents' health and wellbeing.

Qualifications

• A basic food hygiene certificate is essential.
• Experience in basic food preparation is desirable.
• Good communication and listening skills are required.
• Ability to follow instructions and priorities effectively.
• Positive, flexible approach; willingness to training and development.
• QCF Level 2/3 in Health & Social Care is desirable but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Assist Cook with food preparation, serving meals and washing up.
• Keep kitchen areas clean and tidy according to schedules.
• Dispose of waste safely and ensure supplies of cleaning materials.
• Assist with laundry tasks for kitchen linen.
• Follow COSHH, food hygiene and health & safety rules at all times.
• Respect residents’ privacy, dignity and choice.
• Attend training, supervision and staff meetings as required.
