Job summary

Kitchen Assistant (Relief) at Rushden Park care home, Rushden, MHA, offers a rewarding role supporting residents and the kitchen team. The position involves assisting the Cook with meal prep, serving, and maintaining high hygiene standards in a safe environment.

You will work within a caring team, following food safety and COSHH guidelines, and may participate in training and development to support wellbeing and quality service for residents.

Qualifications

• A basic food hygiene certificate is essential.
• Experience with basic food preparation is desirable.
• Good communication and listening skills.
• Ability to follow instructions and prioritise tasks.

Responsibilities

• Support the Cook with food preparation, serving meals and washing up.
• Keep kitchen clean and tidy according to schedules and Food Safety Manual.
• Dispose of waste safely and hygienically.
• Ensure supplies of cleaning materials and washing-up items are available.
• Assist with laundry for kitchen linen.
• Follow COSHH, food hygiene, health & safety and infection prevention requirements.
• Respect residents’ privacy, dignity and choice.
• Attend training, supervision and staff meetings as required.
