We do a great variety of work, so no two days are ever the same. We engage with local communities and deliver activities for people at every stage of their life. Due to the people-focused nature of our work, it can be challenging, but also very rewarding. We work with partner organisations and communities to deliver a range of services.
Some activities you might get involved with are:Engaging with job seekers, helping to develop young minds – working with children and helping combat loneliness and social isolation. Working with community groups and supporting people without access at home to computer facilities and broadband. We are looking for self-motivated people who are happy to work on their own or as part of a team.
We are also looking for flexibility as we may require you to work at different libraries at short notice. Some of our team work fixed hours and have a regular working pattern whilst these are relief posts, which means you will work in different locations and during different hours from week to week. We work “Annualised Hours,” which means that, although your hours may be slightly different, you will be paid the same every week. All our staff work flexibly to meet the needs of the service. These Relief Customer Service Officer roles will be to give capacity where is needed anywhere in the service and sometimes at short notice to cover absences or project delivery. You will be required to work weekends and evenings and may not have a fixed work pattern. We have 24 libraries across all Kirklees and you may be expected to work across all when needed.
