Job summary

Smurfit Westrock is seeking a maintenance engineer to operate on an eight-hour shift pattern, with occasional holiday cover and overtime. The role requires diagnosing faults in production equipment, interpreting electrical and pneumatic schematics, and applying DMAIC problem-solving methods to root causes.

A strong background with AC/DC motors and drives is essential. The successful candidate will demonstrate a practical, right‑first‑time mindset, and contribute to safe, efficient maintenance

Qualifications

• Level 3 Electrical Engineering Qualification gained through an apprenticeship / practical learning course.
• Relevant experience ideally in a production manufacturing environment including fault finding and electrical repairs for industrial equipment.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance tasks with a right first-time approach.
• Read electrical/pneumatic schematic drawings to diagnose issues.
• Demonstrate sound knowledge of AC/DC motors and drives; identify root causes using DMAIC techniques.

The Role

The role will operate on an eight-hour x three shift basis (24hr/5 days) with an element of holiday cover and overtime availability.

The successful candidate will have a positive attitude and have a right first-time approach to maintenance tasks, including using DMAIC problem solving techniques to identify the root cause of an issue.

The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate a sound working knowledge of AC / DC motors and drives, read electrical / pneumatic schematic drawings and have a mechanical understanding of core

Qualifications Skills and Experience
