Reliability Technician – Mechanical
Location: Rugby, Warwickshire
Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM (Friday finish at 3:30 PM)
Salary: Up to £45,195k

Job Role
To assist the Conformance & Reliability Supervisor in providing a detailed programme of all predictive and preventive maintenance techniques to support all business and statutory requirements. The aim is to increase equipment reliability while meeting safety, health, environment, production, quality, and financial targets.
- Predictive Maintenance Strategy: Includes vibration analysis, oil analysis, thermography, wear monitoring, and more.
- Preventive Maintenance Strategy: Covers lubrication, routine component replacement, and routine running checks.
- Utilise information from RCA and FMEA processes to identify improvement areas, generate solutions, and implement within the R&M budget.
- Support safe operations and environmental compliance to achieve zero accidents, based on UK legislation and policies.
Job Responsibilities
- Support the creation of a safe physical environment across Rugby, Kensworth, & Southam by integrating safety into all maintenance processes, aiming for zero harm.
- Promote a safety-conscious culture within the reliability team and among contractors and visitors.
- Contribute to the reliability maintenance team and assist in developing plant maintenance strategies.
- Develop and maintain short- and long-term predictive and preventive maintenance plans, considering internal and external environmental changes.
- Respond to unforeseen events to optimise daily plant performance.
- Assist with repairs identified through reliability techniques like vibration and oil analysis.
- Produce reports and analysis to inform maintenance management decisions.
- Support the annual plant shutdown to optimise safety and efficiency.
- Operate within budget constraints, offering cost-effective solutions for reliability issues.
- Manage small capital projects, ensuring adherence to budget:**
- Maintain high standards in predictive/ preventive routines and document all work for archiving.
- Build strong, long-term relationships with area coordinators.
Candidate Attributes Required
- Strong understanding and passion for condition monitoring and reliability principles (predictive and preventive maintenance), including vibration analysis, tribology, thermography, ultrasound, NDT.
- Ability to work in a team of mechanical, electrical, and reliability technicians; communicate effectively with supervisors, engineers, and managers.
- Open-minded with a holistic approach to problem-solving—collect, interpret, and act upon machine data to identify and fix faults.
Experience / Qualifications Required
- Knowledge of health and safety practices in engineering settings, including relevant regulations.
- NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent; alternative qualifications in other engineering disciplines complemented by experience with mechanical equipment.
- Experience in heavy engineering industries; willing to get hands dirty.
