Job summary

Synergi Recruitment is sourcing a Reliability Engineer for a large-scale, highly automated bakery FMCG operation in the Greater London area. This is a day-based role within a fast-paced, 24/7 production environment, focusing on improving asset reliability, equipment performance and maintenance standards.

You will work with a large engineering team to reduce downtime and identify long-term improvements, using SAP PM for maintenance planning and asset management, and collaborating across

Qualifications

• Engineering background required (Electrical or Mechanical).
• Experience in maintenance within manufacturing.
• Root cause analysis experience and proactive reliability focus.
• Electrical candidates: fault-finding and PLC exposure advantageous.
• Mechanical candidates: pumps, motors, bearings, conveyors and gearboxes experience.
• Experience with preventative maintenance and reliability engineering.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned, preventative and reliability-focused maintenance activities.
• Lead and support root cause analyses to identify and eliminate recurring failures.
• Develop and implement reliability improvement projects.
• Undertake condition monitoring and asset performance activities.
• Identify opportunities to reduce downtime and maintenance costs.
• Support CI initiatives across the manufacturing operation.
• Utilise SAP PM for maintenance planning and asset management.
• Collaborate with Production, Operations and other departments to improve equipment performance.
• Maintain high Health & Safety and engineering compliance.
• Support reliability of automated production, processing and packaging equipment.

Job Role & Key Responsibilities:

We are currently recruiting for a Reliability Engineer to join a large-scale, highly automated FMCG manufacturing operation. This is a day-based role within a fast-paced, 24/7 production environment, supporting the ongoing improvement of asset reliability, equipment performance and maintenance standards.
Working as part of a large engineering team, you will play a key role in reducing downtime, improving equipment reliability and identifying opportunities for long-term engineering improvements.

Key Responsibilities:

• Carry out planned, preventative and reliability-focused maintenance activities.

• Lead and support root cause analysis investigations to identify and eliminate recurring failures.

• Develop and implement reliability improvement projects.

• Undertake condition monitoring and asset performance activities.

• Identify opportunities to reduce equipment downtime and maintenance costs.

• Support continuous improvement initiatives across the manufacturing operation.

• Utilise SAP PM for maintenance planning and asset management.

• Work closely with Production, Operations and other departments to improve equipment performance.

• Maintain high standards of Health & Safety and engineering compliance.

• Support the reliability and performance of automated production, processing and packaging equipment, including conveyors, motors, drives, pumps, bearings and gearboxes.

The Ideal Candidate will have:

• An Engineering Apprenticeship, HNC, Degree or equivalent engineering qualification.

• Either an Electrical or Mechanical engineering background.

• Previous maintenance experience within a manufacturing environment.

• For Electrical candidates: strong electrical fault-finding and maintenance experience, with PLC exposure advantageous.

• For Mechanical candidates: experience working with pumps, motors, bearings, conveyors and gearboxes.

• Experience with preventative maintenance and/or reliability engineering.

• Practical experience of root cause analysis and resolving recurring equipment issues.

• A proactive approach to identifying and addressing long-term reliability issues rather than simply responding to breakdowns.

• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with stakeholders across different departments.

• A self-motivated approach, with the ability to manage improvement projects independently.

• A strong awareness of Health & Safety requirements.

Desirable Skills:

• Previous experience within FMCG, food, beverage, pharmaceutical, packaging or other highly automated manufacturing environments.

• Experience in reliability improvement projects.

• Condition-based monitoring experience.

• SAP PM experience.

• IOSH, PUWER or other relevant Health & Safety knowledge.

• Experience working within a high-speed or continuous production environment.

• A strong continuous improvement mindset.
