Job summary

Premier Foods is seeking a Reliability Engineer in Barnsley to determine and provide the correct maintenance strategy for site equipment, optimising preventative and proactive maintenance against reliability and cost objectives.

You will produce and optimize cost-effective maintenance programmes, lead OEM escalation, and support CAPEX planning while ensuring safety and KPI targets are met.

Qualifications

• Strong functional knowledge of Mechanical, Electrical and Automation maintenance.
• Bakery process equipment experience (mixing, depositing, ovens, packing).
• Understanding OEM Asset Care guidance and asset care systems.
• Excellent organisational and planning skills for overhaul activity.

Responsibilities

• Produce and optimise a cost-effective maintenance programme for manufacturing functions.
• Lead escalation of maintenance or breakdown support from OEMs.
• Support engineering and manufacturing to maximise equipment utilisation and KPI attainment.
• Ensure maintenance plans and SOPs align with the Site Capital Plan.
• Assist future CAPEX planning through machine obsolescence analysis.

Salary - up to £55,000 per annum
Permanent, Full time (39 hours per week)

A full time, permanent opportunity has arisen at our Barnsley site for a Reliability Engineer to join the team. You will be responsible for determining and providing the correct maintenance strategy for the site equipment; this involves optimising preventative and proactive maintenance against reliability and cost objectives.

What you will be doing:

• Produce and optimise a timely and deliverable cost effective maintenance programme for your manufacturing function to optimise the reliability of all electrical and mechanical assets
• Act as the lead for escalating maintenance or breakdown support from OEM’s
• Support the engineering and manufacturing functions ensuring maximum utilisation of engineering equipment in order to achieve KPIs and optimal line efficiency within the company safety, quality & environmental policies.
• Ensure effective maintenance plans (including technical docs, Maintenance Operating Procedures), in the delivery of the Site Capital Plan
• Support future CAPEX plan development through analysis of machine obsolescence programme

What we need from you:

• Strong functional knowledge of Mechanical, Electrical and Automation maintenance and be able to demonstrate detailed knowledge of Bakery (mixing /depositing / ovens / packing) & Process equipment.
• Understanding of Original Equipment Manufacturer Asset Care guidance
• A broad knowledge of the asset care systems and be able to demonstrate strong organisational/planning skills relevant to planning overhaul activity and machine upgrades
• Able to demonstrate the use of problem solving tools and techniques
• Effective communication skills at all levels with the ability to influence and lead groups directly and indirectly
• Demonstrated experience in analysing complex operational issues
