Job summary

Warburtons in Enfield, London, is seeking an Asset Care Lead to head a six-strong day-based engineering team. The role emphasises hands-on mechanical and electrical maintenance, planning and reliability improvements to support the Asset Care Strategy. You will work with the Group Engineering Manager to drive improvements and ensure SAP maintenance processes are followed. Benefits include market-rate salary and a strong pension.

Qualifications

• Experience in FMCG/manufacturing environments preferred.
• Structured engineering training (apprenticeship/HNC/degree or equivalent).
• Familiar with SAP-based maintenance systems and safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of days-based Engineers (6) delivering both mechanical and electrical maintenance.
• Plan and execute preventive and reactive maintenance to meet the Asset Care Strategy.
• Collaborate with Group Engineering Manager and Manufacturing Excellence Project Manager.
• Ensure effective handover between days and shift teams and manage contractor activity.

Are you an Asset Care Lead, Multi Skilled Engineering Team leader or Engineering Team Manager with experience of working in a manufacturing environment and able to deliver the site maintenance plan?

At our Bakery based in Enfield, the team are dedicated to delivering unbeatable quality in a safe manner with highly reliable equipment.

As Asset Care Lead you'll support a team of 6 day-based Engineers. Your role will be approx. 70% hands on performing both mechanical and electrical planned & reactive maintenance. You'll collaborate with the Group Engineering Manager and Manufacturing Excellence Project Manager to ensure the team are working towards achieving the Asset Care Strategy.

Key Accountabilities and Measures

As part of the Engineering management team, you'll be encouraged and supported to foster new ideas and perspectives whilst driving change at pace. We promote a culture of continuous improvement whilst working on a changing approach to reliability centred maintenance in a highly automated manufacturing facility.

You'll be responsible for completing planned and preventative maintenance, working across a range of equipment from bulk ingredient handling systems, through processing to packaging and site services. You will be familiar with and understand the importance of our SAP based maintenance system. You'll work closely with the PPM Co-ordinator to plan maintenance during shutdowns ensuring relevant parts are available, work is allocated correctly and have a clear understanding of timescales to complete the required maintenance.

You will be experienced with the following:

• Safety - Accountable for own and team's adherence to relevant safety standard across all activities (including external contractors)
• People - leadership of a team of days-based Engineers with responsibility for the team's training plan, individual development plans and performance reviews
• Resource Management - Accountable for allocation, delivery and quality of all tasks undertaken by the Days shift that supports plant reliability, product quality and safety in line with Engineering Strategy & company standards.
• Communication - accountable for effective handover between days and shift-based Engineering teams
• Contractor Management - Management of contractor activity
• Compliance with quality and food safety legislation, company standards and specifications in order to meet the requirements of professional and legal standards.

Essential Ingredients

• Experienced in both electrical and mechanical maintenance
• Some experience of people management
• Knowledge and experience of maintenance in an FMCG or manufacturing environment would be preferable.
• H&S/Food Safety systems & legislation knowledge e.g., IOSH - able to ensure a safe working environment.
• Structured and practical engineering training (e.g., apprenticeship/HNC/degree or equivalent).
• IT knowledge - able to use widespread functions within relevant software inc. Microsoft Office, and preferably SAP
• Communication skills - articulate/develops effective, long-term relationships with key people.
• Coaching & Mentoring skills - takes responsibility for training & coaching of Team Members
• Analysing and problem-solving skills - anticipates problems before they occur, takes steps to deal with them/correctly & swiftly identifies the underlying problem & appropriate solutions, based on analysis of data
• Decision making skills - works collaboratively to make decisions with the input of the wider team
• Desirable - Eng Tech Standard Accredited
