Job summary

Winner Recruitment Ltd is hiring a warehouse operative in Barnsley (S74). You will scan parcel barcodes, verify addresses and postcodes, and use the WorkForce Portal to select correct options.

Shifts include days, afternoons and nights, with full induction and on-the-job training. You must be physically fit to lift up to 25 kg and stay reliable and punctual in this fast-paced warehouse role.

Qualifications

• Good written and spoken English to read addresses, postcodes and on-screen instructions.
• Basic computer skills (using a scanner, keyboard and simple on-screen menus).
• Accuracy and attention to detail; a wrong label means a lost parcel.
• Physically fit and able to lift parcels up to 25 kg.
• Happy to work in a fast-paced warehouse environment and stand for long periods.
• Reliable, punctual and able to work day or night shifts.

Responsibilities

• Scan parcel barcodes, or type the tracking number if a barcode is damaged.
• Select the correct options on the WorkForce Portal system.
• Read and check addresses and postcodes to make sure parcels go to the right place.
• Re-print new labels and apply them over the original.
• Place relabelled parcels back onto the conveyor for sortation.
• Load and unload trailers.
• Repair damaged parcels and change label rolls.
• Keep the work area clean, safe and tidy.

What you'll be doing

• Scanning parcel barcodes, or typing in the tracking number when a barcode is damaged
• Selecting the correct options on the WorkForce Portal system
• Reading and checking addresses and postcodes to make sure each parcel goes to the right place
• Re-printing new labels and applying them accurately over the original
• Placing relabelled parcels back onto the conveyor for sortation
• Loading and unloading trailers
• Repairing damaged parcels and changing label rolls
• Keeping your work area clean, safe and tidy

What we're looking for
