Job summary

Head First is recruiting Rehabilitation Support Workers to provide one-to-one support for a young man in his 30s following brain injury in the Peacehaven area. The role involves helping maximise independence, social participation and quality of life within a multidisciplinary team.

We offer an induction, ongoing training, brain injury-specific education and regular supervision. Roles cover 24-hour shifts, including weekdays, weekends and bank holidays, with bank opportunities available.

Qualifications

• Experience in care or rehabilitation settings is advantageous.
• Brain injury knowledge is helpful.
• Visual impairment or complex health needs experience is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Support daily routines, planning and organisation.
• Assist with rehabilitation goals set by therapists and the team.
• Encourage independence and confidence in everyday activities.
• Support community access and social engagement.
• Assist with cooking, shopping, appointments and home maintenance.
• Accompany client to gym and social outings.
• Collaborate with therapists, family and staff.
• Provide a positive presence to promote wellbeing and rehabilitation.
• Full training will be provided for complex health needs.

On behalf of our client, Head First is recruiting Rehabilitation Support Workers to join a dedicated team providing one-to-one support to a young man in his 30s following a brain injury.

Our client has a great sense of humour, big ambitions, and a strong desire to live as independently as possible. He enjoys social activities, access to his local community, exercise, and spending time with people who encourage and support him to achieve his goals (such as undertaking paid or voluntary work and developing friendships.)

He experiences significant cognitive challenges following his brain injury and is registered blind due to a visual impairment. As part of a multidisciplinary rehabilitation team, you will play an important role in helping him maximise his independence, confidence, social participation, and quality of life.

The Role

Hours of work include weekdays, weekends, bank holidays and school holidays on a rolling rota basis.

You Will

• Support daily routines, planning and organisation.
• Assist with rehabilitation goals set by therapists and the wider multidisciplinary team.
• Encourage independence and confidence in everyday activities.
• Support community access, social activities and meaningful engagement.
• Assist with cooking, shopping, attending appointments and maintaining the home environment.
• Accompany the client to the gym, cycling activities and social outings.
• Work collaboratively with therapists, family members and other support staff.
• Provide a reliable, positive and encouraging presence that promotes wellbeing and rehabilitation.
• Full training will be provided to support the client's complex health needs, including Addison's disease management and the administration of emergency injections when clinically indicated.

• Experience supporting individuals with visual impairments or acquired brain injuries would be beneficial but is not essential.
