Job summary

Head First is seeking a Rehabilitation Support Worker in the Peacehaven area to join a dedicated team providing one-to-one support to a young man in his 30s after a brain injury. The role involves assisting with daily routines, rehabilitation goals and community participation.

You will work within a multidisciplinary team, receive full training including Addison's disease management and emergency injections, and benefit from shifts covering weekdays, weekends, and bank holidays.

Qualifications

• Experience in supporting individuals with brain injuries is desirable.
• Ability to work with a multidisciplinary team.
• Capable of promoting independence and social participation.
• Willingness to follow care plans and training.

Responsibilities

• Support daily routines, planning and organisation.
• Assist with rehabilitation goals set by therapists and the multidisciplinary team.
• Encourage independence and confidence in everyday activities.
• Support community access, social activities and meaningful engagement.
• Assist with cooking, shopping, appointments and home maintenance.
• Accompany to the gym, cycling activities and social outings.
• Work with therapists, family and other staff.
• Provide a positive presence that promotes wellbeing and rehabilitation.
• Full training will be provided for complex health needs, including Addison's disease management and emergency injections when indicated.

He enjoys social activities, access to his local community, exercise, and spending time with people who encourage and support him to achieve his goals (such as undertaking paid or voluntary work and developing friendships.)

He experiences significant cognitive challenges following his brain injury and is registered blind due to a visual impairment. As part of a multidisciplinary rehabilitation team, you will play an important role in helping him maximise his independence, confidence, social participation, and quality of life.

The Role

Hours of work include weekdays, weekends, bank holidays and school holidays on a rolling rota basis.

You will:

• Support community access, social activities and meaningful engagement.
• Assist with cooking, shopping, attending appointments and maintaining the home environment.
• Accompany the client to the gym, cycling activities and social outings.
• Work collaboratively with therapists, family members and other support staff.
• Provide a reliable, positive and encouraging presence that promotes wellbeing and rehabilitation.
• Full training will be provided to support the client's complex health needs, including Addison's disease management and the administration of emergency injections when clinically indicated.
