Hampshire and Isle of Wight Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is seeking enthusiastic Occupational Therapy and/or Physiotherapy staff to join our community rehabilitation teams in Petersfield & Bordon. You will work within a multidisciplinary team to deliver individualised rehabilitation programmes to patients with a range of functional needs.

The post holder will assess, plan and deliver therapy to a designated caseload under supervision, maintain records, and support equipment provision.

Qualifications

  • Relevant Level 5 qualification in Rehabilitation, health or social care (or equivalent experience)
  • Applicants must have the right to work in the UK at the time of application.
  • Proficient IT skills and ability to use electronic patient records.

Responsibilities

  • Work under indirect supervision from the Therapy Team Leader and Senior Therapists.
  • Assess, plan and implement therapy to a designated caseload and adapt intervention to meet client needs.
  • Maintain up-to-date written and electronic records, reports and activity data.
  • Provide intervention in environments including clients' homes, hospitals, schools and workplaces.
  • Support the work of registered practitioners and ensure handovers are clear.

Job summary

With the development of our therapy services, we are seeking enthusiastic and dedicated people with experience in Occupational Therapy and or Physiotherapy to join our dynamic community rehabilitation teams at Petersfield & Bordon.

You will work within a multidisciplinary team to deliver high quality care and rehabilitation. You will use your skills and experience to support the provision of individualised rehabilitation programmes to patients with a range of functional and rehabilitative needs.

The post holder will assume responsibility for delegated aspects of healthcare delivery, working within a scope of practice under the direction/supervision of a registered practitioner.

You will have a clear understanding of patients with long term conditions and should be able to demonstrate a level of clinical assessment and reasoning. Previous case holding experience and group work is desirable.

You will need to be a highly motivated individual with excellent communication skills. You will need to be confident and assertive with excellent personal skills and have the ability to demonstrate these in a pressurised environment. The successful applicant will need to have proficient IT skills.

Access to a vehicle and possession of a full driving license is essential.

There are CPD opportunities that support development of clinical skills as well as structured supervision, peer support groups and appraisals.

Main duties of the job

Work under indirect supervision from the Therapy Team Leader, Senior Therapists, and Therapists being responsible for own workload and prioritising effectively.

Assess, plan and implement Therapy to a designated caseload and adapt intervention to meet client needs:

  • E.g. therapeutic handling
  • Equipment provision
  • Participation in treatment activity
  • Dealing with distressing / sensitive issues

To ensure patients and carers are an integral part of their treatment planning and goal setting.

To be responsible for assessment, prescription and fitting of equipment, whilst demonstrating an awareness of local cost implications.

To ensure that up to date written and electronic records, reports and activity data are maintained in accordance with professional and Trust standards.

To provide intervention in a variety of environments, e.g. clients' home, hospital/healthcare settings, schools, work environment to meet client needs.

To take part in procedures to ensure smooth running of the team such as patient registration, liaison reporting and recording data etc.

To adhere to national and local manual handling guidelines.

To support the work of the registered practitioners in the team. To prepare patients for and assist with clinical/therapeutic activities or treatments.

To ensure that delegated tasks and activity has been handed over clearly and are within a persons level of skill and competency.

Qualifications
Essential
  • Relevant Level 5 qualification in Rehabilitation, health or social care (or equivalent experience)
  • At present, the Trust is unable to offer Skilled Worker visa sponsorship for this post. Applicants must have the right to work in the UK at the time of application.
Desirable
  • Working towards a Level 5 qualification, or willing to undertake a Level 5 qualification upon appointment. Candidates who do not currently hold a Level 5 qualification will be supported to achieve this as part of their professional development.
