The Cambridge Rehabilitation Unit within the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a medicines technician to support the ward team. You will undertake medicine histories, reconciliations, assess patients' own medicines and assist with discharge preparation, working alongside specialist clinical pharmacists.

You will train and support nursing staff, promote rehabilitation and patient self-administration, and travel to Welney Ward in Ely when required.

Qualifications

• Evidence of continuing professional development.
• GPhC registration as pharmacy technician.

Responsabilités

• Develop and maintain the day-to-day specialist pharmacy technician service on the Cambridge Rehabilitation Unit.
• Identify patients with specific medicine management needs and plan to resolve them during their stay.
• Support the pharmacist in the clinical pharmacy service and refer queries to other professionals where needed.
• Take medicine histories and carry out medicines reconciliation for newly admitted patients.
• Assess patients' own medicines for suitability for use.
• Order medicines for individual patients and manage stock, checking expiry dates.
• Label and relabel medicines when required.
• Induct, train and support nurses and nursing associates on the ward.
• Promote rehabilitation and independence, supporting self-administration and providing medicines information.
• Support planning and organisation of medicines for discharge and liaise with community pharmacies.
