We are seeking an enthusiastic, self-motivated Regulatory Support Officer to work within our Public Protection & Neighbourhoods team. Full Time and Part Time hours will be considered
This is an exciting time to join the team as we deliver new Additional and Selective licensing schemes which have been introduced. We are constantly working to support residents of the city, ensuring everyone has a safe and well-maintained home.
- To assist with the handling of licence applications in line with internal procedures, performance standards and legislative requirements.
- To assist in conducting complaint and enforcement investigations in line with legislation and industry standards
- To assist in the response to service requests and in the preparation of advice to members of the public on matters pertaining to the service.
- To ensure the personal records of visits, inspections etc. are kept in accordance with Departmental policy and also provide information as required to ensure that other departmental records and statistics can be completed.
- To contribute to business and service development activities as directed by the team manager.
- To develop and maintain positive and collaborative working relationships with relevant internal and external stakeholders.
- To prepare letters, reports, statements and legal files.
- To ensure that fees and income are received and managed correctly.
- Using intelligence to target landlord and letting agents of concern

What we are looking for
- A knowledge of the technical aspects of enforcement
- An ability to work alone or as part of a team
- An ability to dealing effectively with members of the public including tenants, landlords and managing agents
- Excellent communication skills
- Computer skills
- An ability to organise and manage your workload to meet team objectives.
- A good understanding of the regulatory framework, guidance, and good practice in relation to the Housing Standards, noise and anti-social behaviour, and HMO and Selective licensing.
- A proven ability to deliver services
- You will be agile working from home and Newcastle Civic Centre. You will be provided with a laptop and other essential equipment. There will be opportunities to meet colleagues on a regular basis.
