The Role

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Legal Assistant to join a busy membership body in the East Midlands. The role offers hybrid working with no fixed in-office attendance requirements, except for team meetings, events, and one-to-one meetings. The appointed candidate will assist with tasks including, but not limited to:

  1. Managing and progressing complaints from initial reception through to panel stage, including assessment, review, and triage in a timely and compliant manner.
  2. Supporting a caseload involving investigation, evidence gathering, and assessment of complaints.
  3. Identifying legal or sensitive issues posing potential risks, escalating to case conference, and monitoring changes in risk levels.
  4. Communicating clearly and regularly with all parties involved in complaints, handling queries, and explaining procedures as needed.
The Candidate

This role is ideal for a Legal Assistant or Paralegal with previous experience in professional regulation, particularly handling complaints. Drafting and presenting experience is key, along with confidence to work alongside lawyers and senior members of the organization. Applicants must be able to assess criteria and produce written decisions based on their findings. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential.
