Job summary

Weightmans is seeking a proactive Paralegal to support our Regulatory team, assisting lawyers across crime, public inquiries, inquests, and motor transport matters. You will handle a variety of tasks, perform detailed reviews of sensitive materials, and respond to clients efficiently under supervision when needed.

The role emphasizes meeting deadlines, contributing to financial targets, and adhering to firm policies while upholding Weightmans’ values.

About your new role

The Regulatory Department is one of the largest in the country and is recognised by clients and other lawyers as being one of the best. We advise clients across all sectors including health, public sector, corporations and individuals.

We have a team of specialist criminal and regulatory lawyers within the Regulatory team, and we require more paralegal assistance to support our lawyers across a broad spectrum of work. This will include crime, public inquiries, inquests and motor transport principally.

Key duties and responsibilities
  • Assist our lawyers with various tasks across a wide range of work-types
  • Be able to perform detailed analytical reviews of complex and sensitive materials and evidence
  • Respond promptly and accurately to correspondence and telephone enquiries from clients, with and without supervision
  • Achieve set financial and chargeable targets
  • Comply with relevant policies and procedures
  • Work in accordance with Weightmans’ values

About You

Ideally you will have previous experience as a Paralegal and a genuine and demonstrable interest in the above area of work. As the role is varied, we are looking for you to have a flexible approach to the work you do and be able to adapt to different tasks. We also require you to have:

  • Previous paralegal experience is desirable
  • Ability to work to strict deadlines and targets
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Genuine and demonstrable interest in the above area of work
  • Excellent IT and skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent time management and organisation skills
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritise
  • Ability to follow instructions
