Job summary

UNITED UTILITIES GROUP PLC is seeking a Regulatory Controller Trade Effluent (RCTE) to oversee control and monitoring of trade effluent discharges and to provide data for recovering treatment costs. The role involves liaising with retailers, collecting samples, and ensuring compliance with policy guidelines in a hybrid work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Liaise with retailers for Non-Household Customers via JIRA to meet SLAs on trade effluent queries and applications.
  • Collect samples and meter readings to predetermined schedules for control and monitoring.
  • Monitor discharge analysis against consents in line with policy guidelines.
  • Provide evidence to support potential legal action for breaches affecting UU, assets or environment.
  • Provide out-of-hours support for incident management relating to trade effluent discharges.

Job description

We have an exciting opportunity for a Regulatory Controller Trade Effluent (RCTE) available. This role focuses on the control and monitoring of trade effluent discharges to sewers and to provide data for recovering wholesale costs for the treatment of trade effluent discharges into Wastewater Treatment Works.

You will work as a member of a local team, reporting to the Lead RCTE for that area and will have a dedicated group of non-household customers under your control. You may also be required to assist in other areas.

  • Liaising with retailers on behalf of Non‑Household Customers via JIRA case management system to meet SLA's for trade effluent related queries, applications, and sample notifications
  • Samples and meter readings for control and monitoring will be obtained to a pre‑determined schedule as set out in Trade Effluent Policy procedures Control is achieved through a process of deriving consents that provide adequate protection
  • Monitoring trade effluent discharge analysis results including carrying out site tests to ensure compliance against consents in line with Trade Effluent policy guidelines
  • Gathering and providing evidence to support recommended legal action where a breach of the regulations could have/has had an adverse effect on UU, its assets and the environment
  • Providing out of hours support regarding the management of incidents relating to trade effluent discharges

This role may not be eligible for sponsorship

  • Knowledge of the regulations covering trade effluent and environmental law
  • Ability to use Word, Excel and knowledge of JIRA,TEMS, WALTO, OMS and Access computer systems
  • Experience working within the UU Health & Safety environment (use of Airline)
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
