Job summary

United Utilities is hiring a Regulatory Controller Trade Effluent (RCTE) to oversee trade effluent discharges and provide data for recovering wholesale treatment costs. The role involves liaison with retailers, sample collection, and monitoring to ensure regulatory compliance.

The successful candidate will use JIRA, TEMS, WALTO, OMS and Access, with knowledge of environmental regulations and UU Health & Safety practices. This is an onsite, permanent role in Winsford.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of regulations covering trade effluent and environmental law.
  • Proficiency with Word, Excel; knowledge of JIRA, TEMS, WALTO, OMS and Access.
  • Experience in UU Health & Safety environment; strong interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

  • Liaise with retailers for Non-Household Customers via JIRA to meet SLAs for trade effluent queries and sample notifications.
  • Obtain samples and meter readings per schedule to support consent-based control and cost recovery.
  • Monitor trade effluent discharge analyses; perform site tests to verify compliance with consents.

The Role

We have an exciting opportunity for a Regulatory Controller Trade Effluent (RCTE) available. This role focuses on the control and monitoring of trade effluent discharges to sewers and to provide data for recovering wholesale costs for the treatment of trade effluent discharges into Wastewater Treatment Works.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Liaising with retailers on behalf of Non-Household Customers via JIRA case management system to meet SLA's for trade effluent related queries, applications, and sample notifications
  • Samples and meter readings for control and monitoring will be obtained to a pre-determined schedule as set out in Trade Effluent Policy procedures Control is achieved through a process of deriving consents that provide adequate protection
  • Monitoring trade effluent discharge analysis results including carrying out site tests to ensure compliance against consents in line with Trade Effluent policy guidelines
  • Gathering and providing evidence to support recommended legal action where a breach of the regulations could have/has had an adverse effect on UU, its assets and the environment
  • Providing out of hours support regarding the management of incidents relating to trade effluent discharges
What We're Looking For
  • Knowledge of the regulations covering trade effluent and environmental law
  • Ability to use Word, Excel and knowledge of JIRA,TEMS, WALTO, OMS and Access computer systems
  • Experience working within the UU Health & Safety environment (use of Airline)
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
Essential Qualifications
  • HNC / BSc or equivalent in Chemistry or relevant scientific discipline
  • Must have a valid driving licence
Availability to participate in the Trade Effluent Standby Rota
